What Is the Bravo 9 Indicator? How I Read It

The Bravo 9 Count counts a move up to 9 and turns candles purple when it's stretched. What it shows, how I read it, and what it can't do.

Example chart of the Bravo 9 Count: the counts 7, 8 and 9 under a falling move and over a rising one, a ringed dot at each 9

If you've watched my videos, you've heard me say "the 9 printed" or "it went purple". Both come from one tool on my chart: the Bravo 9 Count. Here's what it shows, how I read it, and what it can't do.

What the Bravo 9 Count is

The Bravo 9 Count is an indicator that counts how long a move has been running, up to 9. It's part of the Bravo Kit, which ChartPrime designed with me.

A plain 9-count only counts candles: nine closes in a row higher, or nine lower. The Bravo 9 Count also measures the angle of the move, how steep it is. So it counts the moves that matter, not just a run of small candles.

What the 9 means

When the count reaches 9, a small mark prints with a plus. It means the move may be running out of steam.

It doesn't mean the move ends there. Price can keep going. The 9 is a heads-up to watch for a turn, not an order to act.

What purple candles mean

If the 9 has printed and price still hasn't turned, the candles go purple. Price is stretched, like a rubber band pulled tight, and a pullback may be near.

Like I always say: when it goes purple, it's extended. Get ready for a beatdown.

ChartPrime's guide suggests checking purple against an oscillator before you act on it. I never trade off one signal alone.

The Bravo 9 line

The kit also draws a Bravo 9 line: a ribbon that hugs price and shows the trend right now. Price above it is leaning up. Price below it is leaning down.

How I read it on a chart

I look at three things together:

  1. The count. Is a 9 printing, and which way is the move going?
  2. The color. Have the candles gone purple, so the move is stretched?
  3. The trend. Is price above or below my long lines, like the 200-day? Above it, I look for pullbacks. Below it, the moves run the other way.

In an uptrend, here's the idea: wait for a pullback, get in after one full candle closes above the Bravo 9 line, and stay in until a full candle closes back below it, or take profit when the candles turn purple. The course shows it step by step, with the risk rules first.

What it can't do

  • It doesn't predict. A 9 says a move is getting old, not that it's over.
  • It can stay purple. A strong move can stay stretched longer than you expect.
  • It doesn't replace a stop. Every trade starts with a stop set before you enter.

Trading is risky, and you can lose money. Nothing here is advice to buy or sell.

Where to get it

The Bravo 9 Count comes in the Bravo Kit on ChartPrime, with the Bravo Bands and the Bravo MAs. You can see all three on example charts on the tools page. In the course, I show how to set them up and how I read them.
